About PARC
The Pakistan Agricultural Research Council (PARC) has been at the forefront of agricultural research and development in Pakistan for over 70 years. Initially founded in 1948 as the Food and Agriculture Committee (FAC) under the government of Pakistan, PARC was reorganized and expanded into its current form in 1981.
Headquartered in Islamabad, PARC spearheads national agricultural research priorities and initiatives across Pakistan. With the mission to accelerate agricultural development through research, technology development and knowledge transfer, PARC collaborates closely with federal and provincial partners such as the Ministry of National Food Security and Research.
PARC oversees a network of research institutes across Pakistan, including major facilities in Karachi, Thatta, Quetta, Mansehra, Kaghan Valley, Gilgit Baltistan, and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Key research divisions coordinate projects across seven core domains: Finance, Social Sciences, Agricultural Engineering, Animal Sciences, Coordination and monitoring, and Plant Sciences.
Under the leadership of Chairman Dr M. Azeem Khan, PARC continues its pioneering work to develop innovative new technologies, practices, products, services, and policy recommendations to raise productivity, profitability, and sustainability across Pakistan’s agricultural sector.
