The Federal Government Employees Housing Authority (FGEHA) was founded in 1989 as a cell within Pakistan’s Ministry of Housing & Works. Its purpose was to develop and plan housing schemes for federal employees. Eventually 1990, it became an independent company under the Companies Ordinance 1984.

Since then, FGEHA has provided affordable residences for government workers. This helps prevent homelessness and enables federal staff to have housing by retirement or earlier.

Over the years, Pakistan’s housing situation has grown more complex due to rapid population growth, urban overcrowding, crumbling infrastructure, expanding slums, scarce land, and limited budgets. However, FGEHA strives to meet employees’ housing needs despite these challenges.

Currently, FGEHA operates under the guidance of Chairman Tariq Bashir Cheema, the Federal Minister for Housing & Works. The Director General is Waseem Hayat Bajwa. The organization’s leadership and staff are working to build and manage quality housing communities across Pakistan.
